Based in Miami Springs, Florida, SebastianStrong Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charity that honors the life of Sebastian “Sebs” Ortiz (2000-2016) by raising awareness & funding for less toxic, more targeted childhood cancer cures. This mission was born from the example of STRENGTH set forth by Sebs during his courageous 14-month battle with rhabdomyosarcoma. Since his passing, the foundation bearing his name has bolstered the support of donors from across the country. Donations to SebastianStrong Foundation support bold research ideas that use innovative methodologies and out-of-the-box approaches to find treatments & cures for childhood cancer patients - cancer cures that kids deserve.
WHO IS SEBASTIAN?
Sebastian Nicolas Ortiz, the second-born of three sons to Rosa & Oscar Ortiz, was funny & kind, intelligent & athletic, handsome & humble - the kind of person you couldn’t help but love. He was a son & brother, a grandson, nephew, & cousin, a true friend, and a FIGHTER. Sebastian was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer in October of 2015. He underwent various surgeries, two grueling chemotherapy regimens, and radiation. He lost weight & his hair. He lost the ability to run. He endured constant pain. But he fought bravely for 14 months - with patience, faith, and courage - always with a smile and kind word for anyone who visited him. He gave us STRENGTH. Sebastian’s fight ended on December 29, 2016, and the SebastianStrong Foundation was born. He will live on FOREVER in our hearts and in our race to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
